Local server vs. hosting server

I installed WordPress locally on my computer using BitNami WordPress Stack and used Fantastico Deluxe to install WordPress on my hosting server. I wanted to make changes and see them instantly and when I was done I would copy the new/revised theme to the themes directory on my hosting server. However the theme viewed on my hosting server is not the same as viewed on my local computer. Any one know why??
