once you have installed Mamp then all you need to is create a database add wordpress to root and run install program.

In your case, the webhosting is your local mac.

Where are you geetting stuck?

I’ve been following a tutorial and it all seems clean until I get to Next you need to open https://localhost:8888/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php.
Open it where?

In your browser address bar where put urls to go to websites.

I am trying to do the same thing, but when I go to https://localhost:8888/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php all I get is OOPS! page and nothing else. I am running a MACbookpro and Snow Leopard. this can’t be this difficult!

I agree, but so far I’m stuck. I’ve decided to purchase hosting and see if that makes more sense. I’ll let you know

8888 is the port you using in your Mamp server that you set up on your computer.
