Local Font Not Loading Correctly

  • One font that I added to Local Fonts doesn’t seem to load correctly and still trips the “Preload key requests” in PageSpeed Insights. This:

    /wp-content/plugins/social-warfare/assets/fonts/sw-icon-font.woff?ver=4.2.1

    Shows as this in the source:

    /wp-content/plugins/social-warfare/assets/fonts/sw-icon-font.woff

    without the question mark and beyond.

    This plugin is working wonders, otherwise! Any ideas?

    @emory no, you do not need to get the Pro version in order to get replies here. Sometimes, it’s just slower, especially when more Pro tickets are submitted as they have priority. You weren’t ignored ??

    Now, to answer your question. Preloading fonts is an option that works well but the downside is that you have to keep an eye on the paths once in a while. I just checked and the font file loaded is /wp-content/plugins/social-warfare/assets/fonts/sw-icon-font.woff?ver=4.2.1. It does have the query string and that’s how you need to put it in “Settings” -> “Local Fonts”. If “social-warface” plugin will be updated and the version will change to 4.2.3, then you will have to update the path to the preloaded font as well, since the browser will interpret it as being different (even though it could be the same font).

    I’m not sure what you mean by the following:

    When I checked it out several times it never loaded the version without the question mark. Where did you actually notice that? You can make a print screen and share it via https://imgbb.com/

    @emory also, after a quick look at the page you mentioned, I’ve noticed that the file /wp-content/plugins/ultimate-elementor/assets/min-css/uael-frontend.min.css is loading, but not used there. Can you try to unload it and see how the page will load afterward? It has hundreds of KB and you could save on the total page size.
