    Hi guys,
    My question is regarding performance.

When I inserted a simple playlist view (with 1 player + 8 thumbnails) in my homepage, the website loading goes from 6s to 21s of loading, which is unnaceptable. When I remove the shortcode, it goes down to 6-7s again.

    Anybody experienced something like this?
Is there a caching system for the plugin that might not be activated?

    Thanks,
    Pedro

I’m glad this was posted. I have noticed the same thing on my homepage which uses a similar playlist and was just about to submit a post about it!

I’m not sure, but it could be that one potential cause of the issue is related to non-deferred parsing of the JavaScript. For example, I tested my homepage on gtmetrix.com and received the following suggestions:

155.8KiB of JavaScript is parsed during initial page load. Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering.

    -https://s.ytimg.com/yts/jsbin/www-embed-player-vfl03z107/www-embed-player.js (154.2KiB)
    -https://www.youtube.com/embed/NYi6LjT5Y78?version=3&theme=light&color=white&modestbranding=&rel=1&showinfo=1&enablejsapi=1&wmode=transparent (1.6KiB of inline JavaScript)

Would love to hear from the developers about this so that we can continue using the plugin without it significantly affecting page speed/performance.

    Hey jpress,

I also noticed via GMetrix the loading of the www-embed-player.js, but in my case it seems it’s loading twice, perhaps because I used the plugin in the page content and the sidebar.

It seems that reducing the number of thumbnails makes the performance a little bit better, but very little.

Would also like to hear if this is known issue.
The page which I’m working is https://familiaquadrada.com/

    Hi peucaio,

Well, I’ve been trying out the “YouTube Embed Plus” plugin (the $20 “Pro” version) along with the “Async Javascript” and “Autoptimize” plugins. This combo definitely helped improve our page speeds a bit…though there are still some mentions of YouTube under some of the metrics categories.

    Thanks JP!
Is it from the same developers?

Do I have the same set of options? Like choosing playlists, sidebar widget, embedding in page via shortcode etc?

It’s from different developers. There’s a free version (which is pretty good) but the paid version obviously has more features (including a caching feature that is helpful for SEO). So far I’ve only used the plugin to replace our playlist/gallery and for that it worked extremely well. I’m pretty sure it has the other options you mentioned. The Pro version also provides support, which has been quite good so far ??

    Great, thanks for the tip.
Can I check where you used it?
