Loading WordPress a second time in a new file

I was having some trouble in my first WP webblog so decided to open another file and load a complete new WP in that file.
I was asked to create a hp-config.php file in the new blog so I copied the file from my first version into the second. I now get the first page of my new blog opening correctly but as soon as I go to another page it switches back to my first blogs settings.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
I am very new to this and have been enjoying the learning.
