Loading Posts in Admin

Hi
We have over 200 post and 50 categories on our site with more to come and loading the posts in admin takes ages and ages.
What i would like to do when selecting ‘All Posts’ is not to load any posts until a category as been selected.
This I think would mean going into the page with nothing loaded and then selecting a category / filter.
Or duplicate the category/filter selection on the lefthand sidebar.
I believe selecting just the required category would speed up the load time.

I trust that makes some sense?

Does anyone have any idea how I may achieve this.
