    It’s the “Buddylist”. It freezes halfway through loading it and then pauses before finishing the other half. Are you calling the list remotely, either through a plugin or PHP include?

    uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhm.

    It’s in the wordpress “links” thing….

    Try getting rid of it. Do you see any improvement? This is called “troubleshooting”.

    Get rid of my buddy list?

    Dude. I don’t know if you’re deliberately being sarcastic/caustic, I’ll assume not. In any case: That’s highly unhelpful.

    Whilst it could have been phrased better, what Macmanx is saying is actually very helpful.

    If you *temporarily* remove the suspicious areas and an improvement shows up, that would definitely identify it as the area of concern. If not, then you carry on looking, knowing that it was a red herring.

    In other words, you are honing in on the problem. Try it. Don’t be so quick to anger;)

    Then I have to add all my links again. Huge waste of time, I’ll live with the lag.

    Edit your theme’s sidebar.php via the Theme Editor and remove this line (or a line similar to it):

    <?php get_links_list(); ?>

    That is the call to display the list. Removing it will prevent the list from being displayed. If the problem continues, then the Buddy List is not at fault, and you can easily put that line back. I hope this is just as unhelpful as my last comment.

    while you might not mind the lag, your readers might.

    nope, it’s not the buddy list. The lag happens after the cal. starts up when I remove that line.

    Try disabling each of your plugins one-by-one, then check the load afterwards. If it’s not the buddy list (the point at which it is visibly freezing), then it has to be one of the plugins.

    Hm. Seems to be shortstat. Any suggestions? I’d like to keep it.
