Loading Multiple Pics

  • Hey all. I’m very inexperienced. My blog link contains all of my posts which contain a lot of pictures (its under the WHATS GOING ON link). Sometimes it is slow to load. I just added Lazy Load and I use Smush. Hoping someone is willing to check it out and see if I’m doing this right? Wondering if I should only have it load the most recent blogs? Any suggestions? Thanks so much. I also use Bluehost which tends to go down a lot. I’m hoping to change that next year when I use my site more.

  • I’d suggest amending your theme’s main posts page so that it uses the_excerpt() instead of the_content() – possibly with a featured image for each post being displayed using the_post_thumbnail()/ You may also want to limit the number of posts per page to (say) 10 via Settings -> Reading.

    Thanks, I decreased my posts to 5 per page, but I can’t figure out how to amend the theme’s page. I went into text on my Whats Going On page (my main posts page) in hopes of finding the_content() to change it to the_excerpt(), but it was not there.

    Any way you can check out my site and see if it is in fact slower than it should be? Thanks.
