Loading Icon for images in gallery

Love this theme!

Is it possible to add a loading gif when the images are loading within the gallery?

For some higher resolution images, the images take too long to load and it
displays just a white background.

I have a good internet connection, which doesn’t bother me, but I am sure visitors to the site will not always have a good connection. I do not want to reduce the size of the images, but instead let them know that the images will load and they are not encountering an error.
