load widget via php?

  • Is it possible to load a widget via a php call? I have templates that I want to add a widget to the sidebar and it would be ideal if I could do it in the code and not in the admin.

    Sounds like a strange request. But how about not using widgets. Then you could control your sidebar from PHP if you so wished.

    Well, good point and that IS what I do right now but, I have a shopping cart widget I wanted to use and there seems to be no other way to include it.
