'plugin_url' => 'https://cdn.example.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-postratings'

yes but, wouldn’t that create issues? would it still work the same? I only need that file (static content) to be served from my CDN, not the entire plugin. my CDN can only handle static content.

Not that I can think of. You can try and let me know. Normally I don’t provide support for modification of the plugin.

I understand that. but could you please tell me where is the url for rating_on.gif located? how is your plugin loading if it isn’t present in the code?

The URl is defined in the javascript variable
