• Hi,
wpDiscuz doesn’t setup live update requests if the post has no comments. Suppose some participants open the post page before a comment comes and they wish to watch for the coming comments and, perhaps, reply. However, they will never notice any comments coming until they manually refresh the page after there is at least one comment present. Even when one of the “early participants” posts a comment, whether first or not, he will not see other comments until he manually refresh the page. Even the “Be the First to Comment!” prompt remains there.
This behavior is not good. I suggest that wpDiscuz starts checking for new comments even if there is no comment, yet. Or it may be settable in the plugin Settings.

    Hi ssebech,
If live update works when there are no comments on post, there will be too many requests for server. However, we can add an option in our future releases when there is no comment on post and live update will work.

    Thanks!

Yes, let the site admin decide whether he would like to switch it on, depending on his preferences. For example, I have a multisite where most of the sites do not need this but one specific site is meant for “live discussions” on specific topics (articles). So I would switch the live comment update on immediately (when a new article is posted) just for that single site.
Another hint: after the live discussion is over the admin may close comments. This would be desirable to trigger the live update off (when comments get closed). And should they change their mind and re-open comments the live update shall be back on. Sounds logical?
    Thanks for your response!
