• I enabled Live Traffic in version 6.1.2 I use 2 uptime monitoring services, one who is only pinging my website every 1 minute and the other one downloading a full web-page every 10 minutes.

Now when I enabled Live Traffic both uptime monitors showed up in the results. But they only showed op once or twice, after that no more. This is strange for me because the uptime monitor that is downloading my full web-pages should at least shown up in Live Traffic, correct?

I have looked in “All hits” of course. What could be wrong here?

  • Hello Alwin,
first you could check under “Blocked IPs” to make sure they have not been blocked. This is probably not the case but just to make sure.

Secondly, you could have a look at your web servers access logs and see that they are actually showing up there at the intervals you expect. There you will also be able to see if they are recieving a “200 OK” response like they should. If you need help interpreting the logs feel free to post a snippet here. You can replace any information you want to hide with aliaes like “mydomain.com”.

    Hello wfasa,

I have no blocked ip’s and my log files do show the visits of the uptime monitor (with 200 code) every minute (for Monitive.com) and every 10 minutes (for Anturis.com).

    So what could be wrong?

    Hello again Alwin,
That’s good news! Thanks for looking in to that. There are two options then. Either they are getting logged by Wordfence and you have so much traffic that the Live feed doesn’t have time to update properly (a performance issue) or they are not getting logged by Wordfence. I would assume it is the former. If you have access to your database (for example via PhpMyAdmin) you can look at the table called “wp_wfHits” and compare the last entries there with what you see in the Live feed. Sort the rows in the table by “id” so that you see the highest number first. The entries with the highest ID will be the latest.

    Hello wfasa,

I have looked in the database and the hits from the uptime monitoring services are not showed there either. So it seems Wordfence is just not able to log these hits?

Strange thing is that I run a website on another host, and there I can see the hits from the uptime service that is downloading the full wegpages.

So can it be possible that it has something to do with my webhost?

Good question. ?? Have you checked the Wordfence options for “Live Traffic View” on both sites? Do they differ? Are other hits getting logged normally on the site where your uptime monitors are not logged? For example if you use a new browser where you are not logged in to Wordfence and visit your site with it, can you see your visit appearing in the log?

Hello wfasa, i have looked at every possible error now but I can’t find it! My conclusion has to be that Wordfence Live Traffic is a nice feature but far from perfect because it is simply not recording all the hits at my website.

My logfilesare the proof that there are more hits than Wordfence is showing.

So I give up now and accept Live Traffic for what it is right now.

    Thank you for your help!

    Thanks Alwin,
I’m suspecting it’s an issue with reverse proxies. You could ask your host about this if you don’t know if you have one or not. If you do have a reverse proxy of some sort (like Cloudflare or nginx) you would need to adjust your settings under “How does Wordfence get IPs” on the Wordfence options page. You can find more information on this here.
