• Hello again,

I just updated to JW Player 6 and my previous post has been very helpful, however, now I am having trouble with my live stream – this used to work and I am sure that there is some “short code mishap”

    [jwplayer config="Streaming-SD" file="myStream" streamer="rtmp://streaming.domain.com/live2/" provider="rtmp" image="/path/to/my/images/someTitle.jpg" html5_file="https://streaming.domain.com:1935/live2/myStream/playlist.m3u8"]

I don’t know if it matters but the stream comes from a Wowza server.

For the JW player six you can suffice with setting the file parameter.

    [jwplayer player="2" file="rtmp://streaming.domain.com/live2/mp4:myStream.mp4" image="/path/to/my/images/someTitle.jpg"]

    or

    [jwplayer player="2" file="https://streaming.domain.com:1935/live2/myStream/playlist.m3u8" image="/path/to/my/images/someTitle.jpg"]

There is no html5_file setting anymore.

Got it – so I am using the html5 stream

    [jwplayer player="8" file="https://streaming.somecompany.com:1935/live2/myStream/playlist.m3u8" image="/images/SFO_640x320.jpg"]

    and I get following error:

Error loading stream: ID not found on server – again, this used to work with JW Player 5

I can give you the proper URL, but I would need to do that via email since it is a non-public website

Can you email a url to our support desk and ask to pass it to Roel. I will look into it.

I looked at your stream and it works with my test setup.

One quick question: Playback of m3u8 is supported with the JW Player 6 Premium or Ads edition. Are you using one of those editions and if so, have you properly set both the license key and the version in the settings page of the JW Player plugin?

RTMP playback will work in any edition, just like it did in JW Player 5.

Ahh, nope, I am (currently) using the Free version – did not realize that I am forced to buy the player for live streaming, because it worked with JW Player 5. Anyhow, we planned on purchasing the player anyways so we can brand it – I let you know if it works once we have done that.

    One question: we found that

    https://account.longtailvideo.com/wizard

with our playlist.m3u8 file produced “Playlist could not be loaded: No playable sources found”, while

    https://www.longtailvideo.com/jw-player/wizard/

worked just fine with the same File link. Ant clue why that might be the case?

The player will continue to work with live streaming as did player 5. You just need to use RTMP.

Don’t know about the wizard though, but my guess is the preview on account.longtailvideo.com site uses your actual player license, while the wizard on longtailvideo.com uses a premium player to show what’s possible.
