    Hello,

I successfully installed the free theme (version 2.6.6) and now I am trying to customize it using live preview. But the window does not load properly, I can only see the left-side customization menu, but not the content (please see this screenshot). I also noticed that style.css does not contain any code, but only some commented lines with theme details, author, etc (here is the proof). Is such a thing normal?

I have to mention that I didn`t make any changes or settings to the installed version. I also use the latest WordPress version (4.4.2).

  • 1. It’s best to make your theme changes via the Appearance> Theme Options area.
I usually have the page I’m editing open in another tab and just refresh it after I make changes within the theme options area.

Be sure that you’ve downloaded the Virtue / Pinnacle ToolKit in the recommended plugins area.

    2. The place where you’ll want to make your CSS edits will be Appearance> Theme Options> Advanced Settings.

    Hi Kevin,

I started using Theme Option, and I can see my changes for pages and posts (e.g. https://www.paginaparfumata.ro/catalogul-curent-oriflame/). Anyway, the initial problem still persists because when I access the front page I get 503 Service Unavailable: https://www.paginaparfumata.ro/.

I followed all the documentation steps and the tutorials for setting the front page, and this is what I have atm:
    – On Settings -> Reading, the static page Home is selected
    – On Theme Options -> Page Layout, the Page content is ENABLED
    – I created the Home page using Page Builder by SiteOrigin, and in Page Attributes -> Fullwidth template is selected.
    – The Virtue / Pinnacle ToolKit is also installed and activated.

Any idea what can be missing?

    Thanks a lot,
    Ioana

I tried to set an empty home page as well without using page builder plugin, but I still get 503. I started to panic.

    Please help.

What happens when you switch to another theme? I would try doing that to see if the page loads then. You’ll know for sure that it’s the theme if it loads properly.

Did you edit any of the files within the “Editor” screen? If so, it may be best for you to uninstall the theme and re-install with a fresh download.

If you made edits to those files without knowing what they do exactly, then it may mess with the functionality of the site.

If you switch to another theme and the problem persists, I suggest contacting your host.

Sorry I forgot to mention, but I tried to switch to another theme and it works perfectly. For exemple, now I have changed the theme: https://www.paginaparfumata.ro

I didn’t use Editor screen and I re-installed the theme for 3 times, but nothing changed. The error persists and it only happens for the front page.
There is a notification that a newer theme version is available for update, so I tried the update as well. Same results.

    Hey ciontioana,

    1. based on the screen shot I think you are just hitting the max memory limit in your server’s php settings. This is something you host can help you change. It’s just a server setting that need updated.

    2. Yes it’s pretty normal with a lot of themes to not load the style.css file or use it as a file that actually contains css.

You shouldn’t every edit a theme css file anyway anything you edit would be lost in an update so it’s always best to override by using a child theme or custom css box in your theme options.

Sorry for the delay in getting an answer to you.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for your assistance. The problem was fixed by the host, it was something related to Firewall. The Live Preview works perfectly, I’ll close the ticket.

    Best Regards,
    Ioana
