• As of May 13, 2013, my theme isn’t listed in ‘Available Themes’ (though it is listed as the current theme!). I’ve checked in wp-content/themes and, indeed, the theme is present. I even tried re-installing the theme and was denied the opportunity.

    I can use the editor to make changes to, for example, index.php. My usual habit when doing so, is to ‘Save Changes’, then go to ‘Themes’, get a ‘Live Preview’ (an action available only if the theme is listed in ‘Available Themes’), and if the result looks okay, ‘Save and Activate’. (My only plug-in is wp-cache, so I clear cache.)

    Now, as of May 13, this habit is broken. The current theme is visible, but is not listed in available themes! When I select ‘Customize’ for the ‘Current’ theme, it is listed as ‘Saved’. It is to be noted that changes made in the editor are reflected immediately in the live blog.

    Is this clear? I’d appreciate help or at least speculation.

  • What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

    The problem theme is one I named ‘pithagora’, self-written, uploaded from a zip file I still have on my computer. I can still get to the source files online (via editor). I can download files (via copy/paste). I can recreate zip from individual files! All that is missing is the theme being shown in the area of ‘Available Themes’!

    [Edit: a link to the blog is https://pithagora.com]

    I can’t see any sign of your theme’s CSS on your site. What’s at the top of the theme’s style.css file?

    Its “style.css” hasn’t changed for a long time, but for what it’s worth, its contents:

    /* Theme Name: pithagora-H5, URI: https://pithagora.com, no versioning anticipated
    Description: ==>Personal<== stripped down HTML5 WordPress template
    ==>(pithagora-H5 claims no adherence to ‘publication standards’; ?k?)
    pithagora-H5 is based on: H5 v1.0, URI https://diggingintowordpress.com/,
    Author: Jeff Starr, Author URI: https://perishablepress.com/,
    Tags: minimalist, template, html5, css3, personal, private, non-standard, derivative
    released under GPL: https://www.opensource.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.html */
    article,aside,footer,header,nav,section{display:block;}

    It is also to be noted that, in its head section, my theme has a link to my style sheet at my domain at apfwebs.com – my website – so as to make the blog look identical to the website. The blog has other links to my website as well.

    The blog is hosted on hostgator. It is an “add-on” domain to apfwebs.com. Therefore, its folder is *physically* located at apfwebs.com’s public_html/pithagora.com/, the registrar has both domains using the same nameservers, and hostgator does the juggling.
