• Hello, currently running Version 1.4.3 and the Woffice theme listed on (themeforest.net). When a user leaves a comment on the Advert item the listing somehow changes to a standard blog post in WordPress and is no longer visible on the classified system but I can see that the item still counts towards the total number of items listed in a category, clicking on the category reveals all items except the ones where someone left a comment. I can then find the listing only when I view my website’s blog posts.

Do I need to disable comments in my theme for advert listings? Ideally, I would like users to leave comments and ask questions from the seller if possible.

I would provide a link but we are using this in an Intranet environment only.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
hmm can you add one more comment to some other Ad and then using phpMyAdmin check in the database if the Ad post_type in wp_posts table changed from “advert” to “post” or something else?

By default WPAdverts itself does not do that and other users are using the default WP comments without any problems so this might be some kind of conflict with your theme, you can try switching to a different theme for a while post a comment and see if the same happens.

This also can be a conflict with one of the plugins installed on-site, if switching theme will not help you can try disabling the plugins one by one and seeing when and if the problem goes away?

Thanks for your response. After looking at the DB table, the post_type is set to “post” now. I went and added comments to some other adverts in the current theme but they did not change. Not sure how this one-off listing had changed.

Can I simply change the post_type back to “advert” and it will reappear in the advert category?

    Hi,
yes, changing post_type back to “advert” should restore the Ad.

Why the post_type was changed in the first place i cannot tell as well :/. You can keep an eye on it if it happened once there is a chance that in the “correct circumstances” it will happen again.
