I use the list widget in the bottom right corner of my site to show the next four upcoming events. When I upgrade to 3.8, the list breaks; it shows only the current page and the current time and nothing else. It also broke in 3.7 too, which is why on my live site I continue to use 3.5.1 to ensure all is working right.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

My live site is https://www.sfcg.org; the list is in the footer.

I spun up a sandbox at https://dev-sfcg-sandbox.gotpantheon.com/ to test this after reverting it back on the live site when the same issue occurred.

When I moved to 3.8 on the live site, I also had a permalink issue which was not resolved by a refresh on that. But, on the sandbox, that wasn’t an issue, so it might be two different challenges I am having.

Any ideas on things to try, or what might have changed between the versions that would break whatever I had before?

    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for your post. I’m sorry you’re having trouble. Have you tried deactivating other plugins to look for a conflict, or switching to a default theme like Twenty Twelve? If you need help, please read this guide to testing for conflicts.

If you can isolate this as an issue that’s inherent to The Events Calendar, we’d be happy to look into it further. Unfortunately, we can’t help troubleshoot conflicts here on the free forum. If you do find a conflict, you can try getting in touch with the developer of the theme or plugin and see if they can shed some light on the issue.

We also have some resources that might be helpful for you in troubleshooting a conflict:

? Themer’s Guide – provides an overview of how to customize the plugin’s frontend appearance.
? Tutorials – useful tips and tricks for changing how the plugin looks and behaves.
? Technical Docs – provides an overview of the classes and functions in each plugin

Good luck, and thanks for using The Events Calendar!

    Leah:
I appreciate your reply. I have tried some of this but haven’t been able to solve it yet. Do you have a more detailed breakdown of whether or not anything changed with the list widget implementation between the versions?

As you’ve said, this is obviously working for others so it clearly is something unique to my environment. Guess I will need to keep up the search.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,

I recommend that you check out the 3.8 release notes. You’ll also want to read our post on what changed this version– as you’ll see, we did make some changes to the list widget.

    Best,
    Leah
