list pages with short discription

Hi, i’ve just installed wordpress and it is great. i have customized the design and now i’m kind of deadlock. i want to have a journal section which hold all journal posts and articles section which holds all articles i’ve writen. The structure is like here https://www.stopdesign.com/. My first thought was that for journal i have to write the post in WRITE-WRITE POST and for articles i make it in WRITE – WRITE PAGE. The journal section works the way i want it, but in my ARTICLES Home Page i can not list the title and short description of the articles. For the ARTICLES home page i use template tags wp_list_page, but it just list the title. So how can i create structure like stopdesign where i can list my articles on articles homepage with title and short description. Should i write the articles as post and than exclude them from the journal and only displaying them on articles section ?? thanks
