List of event title and retrieving of the current event identifier

I tried to summarize my two question in the topic title. Here are some explanations for more details.
List of event title:
What is the easiest way to receive a list of all events titles as plain text? I want to include them as options in a dropdown list elsewhere. Is there a php code snippet already in use for this purpose?
If not, it is more convenient to retrieve the data somehow with access to the shortcodes “qem”-command or with inquiry in the database. If the last is the case, what is the correct database entry?
Determination of the current event:
I also need to read the identifier of an event (similar to the identifier used in the “qem event=’1234′) of an opened event to save it elsewhere. Here I am looking also for a smart suggestion?
