    @seamoose37,

    Thanks! Did you manually empty and refresh your browser cache after changing that line?

    Also, can you please check from a different browser after you comment out that line?

    Thanks!

    Yes did manual refresh, will check different browser now, also see update in original comment by me.

    is also greyed out in Chrome…

    Josh,

    it fixed the add link buttons for me, but my site is still going down daily, and when that happens, i also can not sign into wordpress. So i haven’t even had a chance to see if it will allow me to add pix using NextGEN. I get 500 Internal Server Errors. Could this huge problem still be related to nexGEN? Thanks.

    I’m really at a loss here. I have all my plugins shut off because it’s the only way I can guarantee that my site stays up, but now I basically can’t post anything new because all the functionality I need is in my plugins.

    Well, I think we have identified the link/unlink issue.

    @mrpacdan,
    The first thing I would do is begin checking each of your plugins to ensure they are rated up to WordPress 3.6. If it is not, I would recommend finding a replacement that is.

    Do this for all plugins except NextGen. Leave that one deactivated until the very end of this process.

    Once you have activated all of your other plugins (except NextGen)… are you still experiencing the site issues?

    @seamoose37,
    I’m really at a loss here. I am totally unfamiliar with NextGen and have never used it on any of my websites. I only found the above fix by digging into their code. Since multiple people are reporting this as ‘fixed’, I really don’t know what’s going on in your environment.

    Try deactivated ALL of your plugins… then manually refresh the browser cache… and see if that allows you to link/unlink.

    That way, we can rule out your theme and the WP core files.

    Thanks for your help Josh. I did the above, deactivated all plug ins, manually refreshed, but no change. I also changed theme to a wordpress twenty-whatever theme a couple of times but still no change.

    Never mind, I work a lot in html mode anyway and can punch it in and oddly, the link button in html mode works, so go figure!

    Thanks again.

    OK. Thanks, Josh. I did as you said. I even got rid of plugins i don’t use, so now I’m down to:

    Contact Form 7
    JetPack
    MP3-Jplayer

    With all of those on and NextGEN gallery off, my site is working. So does this mean I just have to sit tight and wait for an update of NextGEN that will hopefully fix this?

    @seamoose37,

    That is totally mind-blowing. If you have gone back to a “bare bones” installation, it should have removed the issue. I have no explanation of why it still would not be working.

    If you ever find out a solution.. please do come back here and share it with us!

    @mrpacdan,

    Unfortunately, yes. There is nothing I (nor you) can do at this point. I did notice while testing, however, that if you have NextGen activated.. and the buttons are grayed out; if you click the NextGen editor icon to insert an image… and then close the window without interacting with it at all… it will briefly restore the link/unlink buttons.

    It’s a pain… but doing this every time you insert a link is an option.

    Well, your fix FIXED the link issue. It’s everything else that’s the problem. with NextGEN activated, my site crashes constantly and I can’t sign into my dashboard–it won’t even load the dashboard sign in page. For a while I was able to get in and insert one photo in a blog most of the time before the crash, but it somehow got progressively worse and now after a while, I have the problems I just described.

    Well, I’m certainly sorry there is nothing more I can do. NextGen is a very popular plugin.. and it is surprising to not see them take immediate action with all the issues they have been experiencing recently.

    I have personally never used NextGen. I use WP Photo Album Plus. It is developed by a global friend of mine (OpaJaap), and has exceeded my needs and expectations in every area imaginable.

    If you aren’t “married” to the NextGen plugin… I would highly suggest you go check out WP Photo Album Plus!

    I am going to mark this topic as resolved… sine it is not an Ultimate Tinymce issue.

    If the OP feels differently, please feel free to change it back.

    Thanks!
