Links with parameters are broken on Search results page

Downloads are working ok from the pages where the shortcodes are included, and they create permalinks which work OK and take users to the correct files.
Example:
https://nonkilling.org/center/publications-media/periodicals-global-nonkilling-working-papers/
But when users try this search on the site…
https://nonkilling.org/center/?s=working+papers
…URLs are created on the results page that take this form (not permalinks but parameters-based URL instead):
Example:
https://nonkilling.org/center/?post_type=dlm_download&p=2150
…which lead to a 404 error page.
How can we fix this, so that search results lead to the correct URLs?
