Links to pages from home page bring up 404 error.

  • There was a thread on this a couple of years ago, but now closed.
    It was suggested that to resolve this problem I should set permalinks to default and then back again to repair htaccess file. In my case resetting to default did solve the problem, but going back again it was just the same. Also some pages stlll bring up the 404 error. Can anyone suggest what is happening here please?
