I’m having a problem with page links from my site. If I go to aldertons.com the page displays and the address bar at the top says “aldertons.com”. But when I click on any menu link, eg. Info, the page displays but the address bar reads, “aldertons.com/65-2/info/”.

I have no idea where this “/65-2” is coming from. I’ve played with Permalinks but I can’t get rid of it.

I should mention that my site is located in the root directory and WP is in the subdirectory newsite. My site is hosted on a Linux account with GoDaddy.

Have you tried disabling all plugins to see if that has any effect?

I just disabled all plugins and the problem remains. It seems to be inherent in the site. At the top of the edit page is the following:

Permalink: https://aldertons.com/65-2/slang/ ?Edit View Page Get Shortlink

It sounds like a conflict in your .htaccess file – probably related to the fact that WordPress is running in a subdirectory.

rewrites and .htaccess really aren’t my strong suit, so I’m hesitant to make any suggestions that might make things worse ??

Have you read this codex page? Perhaps it will get you pointed in the right direction?

Thanks for that. I actually used that page to help me move my site to the root directory. I believe I did everything, in order, that was listed and the \65-2\ still turns up in the address for every page except my home page.

It’s confusing me that the Permalink on the edit page reflects this apparent address sub-directory. I don’t have a \65-2\ directory anywhere, in the root or in the WP directory. It just seems so random. I’m sure the fix is something fairly straight forward but I have no idea how to proceed.

I resolved this. There was a setting in “All-in-One SEO Pack” that set a slug value of “65-2”. Even when the plugin was deactivated the slug was persistent.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

Glad it’s working. All-In-One must have been adding a redirect rule based on that setting, random as it seems, but not deleting the rule upon deactivation to preserve existing URL’s when users turn off the plugin.

    Glad you found it!!
