• Hello.

This week I was configuring the plugin for Amazon Spain and it is going very well, thank you!!!

Today I registered with Amazon USA and added the information for the United States to the plugin in the “Associates” tab. I have also activated the geolocation option.

Now with the “hello free VPN” program I have entered the website pretending that I am browsing from the USA and now the links appear but not in the same format as those from Spain. In reality, the link does not lead to the product’s website on AMAZON USA but rather to the product search page on AMAZON USA (and normally the product does not exist). Also, if I click on the add to cart button, it takes me to the AMAZON USA website but it tells me that the cart is empty and very important: this link to add to cart has my Amazon Spain label and not Amazon USA.

I really don’t know how the links to AMAZON USA should work because I imagine that many of the products from Amazon Spain will not exist in Amazon USA. So I suppose that visitors to my website from the USA should be shown products from AMAZON USA and not products from AMAZON SPAIN with a link to search for the product on Amazon USA.

The link format is like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/s?tag=”here_was_my_tag_of_usa”&k=B09V13Z29X

And the link for the add to cart button is this:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aws/cart/add.html?AssociateTag=”here_was_my_tag_of_spain”&SubscriptionId=AKIAJO3KBK36ECLN6DCQ&AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJO3KBK36ECLN6DCQ&ASIN.1=B09V13Z29X&Quantity.1=1

    Thanks!!!!

    Hi,

many of the products from Amazon Spain will not exist in Amazon USA

So, the plugin just links to the search result page as checking every product whether it exists or not creates too many queries.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aws/cart/add.html?AssociateTag=”here_was_my_tag_of_spain”&SubscriptionId=AKIAJO3KBK36ECLN6DCQ&AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJO3KBK36ECLN6DCQ&ASIN.1=B09V13Z29X&Quantity.1=1

You are saying that the Associate tag of the button is not converted properly. I see. I need to check. As you already know, many products are not available in different locales so the Cart button is not that effective when doing geo-targeting. Even so do you really need to use it? Is converting only links not enough?

    thanks for the reply.

Well, I didn’t know if this was the normal functioning of the plugin. From what you tell me, I understand that it’s not that I have anything wrong, but that this is how the plugin works normally. okay.

I think that for other countries, the plugin could also cache products from other countries. For example, I use it for Spain and now also for the USA. Then the plugin could also cache US products and when the website visitor is from the US, show them the US products. it’s a suggestion.

Regarding the cart button, the problem is that it puts the Spanish label in the link but it takes you to the USA website. then we are losing the customer. I think it would be preferable then to be able to hide the button when visitor IS from a secondary country or make the button to carry the label of the second country even if it leads you to the empty cart. I think this would be quick and good for an update.

    thank you!!!!

Try the development version 5.3.9b01 which should fix the issue of Associate tags in cart buttons.

You might think it’s simple, but while it’s technically feasible, it’s not that easy to implement without the plugin consuming lots of resources. If you have technical expertise on this matter, post it on the repository issue tracker as a suggestion.

Hello!!! First of all, thank you very much for the special version of the plugin. I have installed it and it works perfectly, exactly as you say.

It would be good if you included this improvement in future versions of the plugin.

As a suggestion, I will tell you two ideas that I think would improve this problem and make it work much better.

    1. Instead of the add to cart button leading to an empty cart in a secondary country, it would be better if it led to the product search page just as the product link itself does right now. And since normally, the product does not exist in the secondary country because you are searching by the Amazon id, it would be good if the search term it leads you to is the title of the product, since now, the search term it searches for is the Amazon id and then The results are: “the product does not exist.” If we searched by product title, Amazon would surely show better results.
    2. That also the link of the product itself in a secondary country, which now leads to the search for the ID of the product on Amazon, instead of leading to searching for the ID, leads to searching by the title of the product just as I have explained in the point 1 for the cart button.

I think these changes should not be very difficult to implement, just change two variables and they would be a very good improvement to the plugin.

In any case, thank you very much and sorry for writing so much.

A development version here means a release candidate.

Instead of the add to cart button leading to an empty cart in a secondary country, it would be better if it led to the product search page just as the product link itself does right now.

Enable the Button Link Type unit option under the Button section.

leads to searching by the title

Searching with a foreign language will likely leads to no results.

    1. It’s true, the search would be in another language and it wouldn’t work either, I didn’t think about it hahaha.
    2. I have removed the “buy” button as you indicate. But it will be removed for both the primary and secondary countries. It would be good if it only disappeared for secondary countries so we could have it keep it in the primary country.
    3. However, I have realized one thing. When you are in a secondary country, the product link leads to the label of the secondary country and the Amazon of the secondary country. This is correct, but if you click on the image, the link has the label of the primary country and takes you to the Amazon of the primary country. This link is not changing by geolocation.
    4. Another thing that I have seen is that, for example, we have when the same Amazon sells to several countries. For example, Amazon.com USA sells in several countries in South America. I think for example Colombia. Well, I have been trying with VPN and if I enter from Colombia it does not show the Amazon USA label and it does not take you to the USA website, but rather the one from my primary country (Spain) appears and takes you to the Amazon Spain website. I have tried other countries in South America and none of them take me to Amazon USA, the Spanish label always appears. Shouldn’t I carry Amazon USA with the Amazon USA label when I enter from Colombia for example?

I already know that the case of Mexico is special, I have not considered this country yet.

There are a lot of questions, but I think it’s good to see these points. Thank you very much for your attention.

It can be changed to links from add-to-cart for secondary countries rather than hiding the buttons.

if you click on the image, the link has the label of the primary country and takes you to the Amazon of the primary country. This link is not changing by geolocation.

    It should be fixed. Thanks.

Shouldn’t I carry Amazon USA with the Amazon USA label when I enter from Colombia for example?

I’m aware of whether people located in Colombia can purchase items on amazon.com. If they cannot, it doesn’t matter, does it?

Thanks for fixing the image links in secondary countries.

I have been looking everywhere for the option to change the link to the add to cart button ONLY for secondary countries and I can’t find it. I only find on the unit itself the option for the cart button to take you to the product page or to add to cart, but this would apply to all countries, not just secondary ones. Can you tell me where that option is that you say only changes to a link for secondary countries?

Regarding Amazon USA, I think it is available for all these countries:

Bermuda, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Canada, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Guadeloupe, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Micronesia, French Guiana, Jamaica, Saint Martin and Martinique.

I think it is made from Amazon.com USA. So when we enter the website from Bolivia (for example) the label for amazon.com and the link for amazon.com should appear, right?

    Thank you!!!

    Try the development version 5.3.10b01.

I’ve never said something like that. If you have a feature request, post it on the issue tracker of the repository.

So when we enter the website from Bolivia (for example) the label for amazon.com and the link for amazon.com should appear, right?

It seems most Amazon sites support international shipping. Considering the many items that are unavailable on various local Amazon sites, it might be better to link directly to the original site.
