• I hope I can explain this clearly.

As you can see on https://www.kurtvandeweerdt.be/wordpress the site works, but during installation I tried to rename the url of the website somewhere (don’t know at what stage, but clearly nearly at the end of the installation). I tried to rename /wordpress into /blog. But… I already had a blogpage running on that URL. Though, I wasn’t aware of that anymore at that moment. Now it keeps troubleshooting as you can see if you try to click on any given link/button within my website, like About or November 2008 (Archive). You even can see it in your browser below (Status bar?) if you move your mousecursor over the link/button you are willing to click on. It keeps referring to https://www.kurtvandeweerdt.be/BLOG/… I even can’t login in this way!

How can I get solve this? I need to get rid of the fact it keeps linking to /blog. Probably in some sort of php-file, but which one and where?

Anyone for help? A big thanks in advance!!!

    Kind regards,

    Kurt

I can solve it by duplicating my ‘wordpress’ dir and rename it into ‘blog’, but will this work at any time? Isn’t there a chance that it will give errors at some point? Maybe when I start installing mods and doing modifications?

You should not mess with things that you don’t understand. You can NOT change arbitrarily the two URL values of a WP installation.
Fix it back to the REAL location of your WP installation:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

When you are done, come back and ask first – before doing anything.

I’m sorry… I wasn’t aware of doing something wrong… I just followed the tutorial I searched for and at the spot where I made the mistake I really thought it couldn’t do any harm to the site.

About not asking before… As I said, it really looked as no harm could be done to it, cause it was presented in a browserscreen during the installation. I haven’t been doing anything in files I was not supposed to. Plus, as on many forums (like for photography, webdesign, etc.) they blame you if start asking “silly” questions without trying yourself or questions that were asked for way too many times untill they get enoying. So, that’s way I tried to do so on my own… I’m sorry for being a bit autodidactic…

Anyway, It works now, with the link you gave. So thank you for that!

    Cheers!

OK, now if you want to change
    https://www.kurtvandeweerdt.be/wordpress/
    to https://www.kurtvandeweerdt.be/blog
    follow these steps:

    1. login > Admin > Settings > General
    2. Change BOTH URL values to what you want to be (wordpress > blog) – you will get an error message, don’t worry!
    3. DO NOT try to see/open your blog!
    4. See #3 – just to make sure you got it.
    5. via FTP rename the “wordpress” folder to “blog”

    Done.

Ok, thanks for that! I was about to ask something similar if the site was ready… But, I’m gonna use it on my site as it is now. So, just https://www.kurtvandeweerdt.be. Is assume I just need to delete /wordpress on both url values and then continue with 3, 4 and 5, right? ??

    No! Never assume…
    That’s a completely different thing!

If you want your blog to be displayed at root (example.com) and it is already installed in a subfolder (wordpress) – you have 2 options:
    1. Moving_WordPress
    2. Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

You have a rude but funny humor… ?? Thanks again! You’re very willing to help! Thanks!
