• I just switched hosts to Siteground’s WP hosting and I’m not sure if this is part of the problem. I am familiar with the process of adding hyperlinks to posts but suddenly it’s not working.

The strange thing is, when I add the link and save the page and test it, the URL that appears in my browser contains my domain name, which I did not insert. For example, if my domain is mydomain.com and I want to insert a link to mylink.com in a post, I end up with something that looks like https://www.mydomain/mylink.com, which is not what I put in or intended. I tried this two different ways. Highlighting the text and linking it and typing out the whole URL of the link and then linking it. Same result.

I’ve been setting up WP sites for years (though I admittedly don’t know much technically) and don’t ever remember seeing this particular problem. Any idea of what it means or how to fix it? Thanks.

An update: I just tried something else -linking from a post to one of my own pages and this worked. Curiously, the system seems to assume that all of my links are meant to be internal so I’m able to create internal but not external links.

Try adding “https” or “https” to the link when adding.

    Thanks, that worked!

Not sure if that’s something I always did before and just forgot, but apparently it’s necessary.

    Awesome!
