    Hi,

    I wonder can anyone help.

My site https://doyouneedawriter.com has been up and running a while now and working great.

But I noticed today that if when loaded into the home page I click the links at the top, about, contact or services they work fine.

However, if I click on either of the other two links, understanding seo or Ts&Cs, when I am on either of these pages using the top links for, about, contact or services no longer work as they should.

Instead of the #about taking me back to the main page and going to the about section, as worked fine previously. I now find the #about is just being added to the end of the url and therefore not working properly. As in: https://doyouneedawriter.com/understanding-seo/#aboutus

Which is not as should be, it is set up to jump back to the url of simply #aboutus

Can anyone explain what may have changed or why this is suddenly happening? Might this be due to today’s WP update?

    Thanks

    Patrick

  • Your about, contact, and Testimonial pages are starting with a hash mark # which is an illegal character. Since this character is illegal it will try to display an 404 page. If you haven’t defined a 404 page in display default to the next page in the template hierarchy.

If you changed the permalinks to the site after creating these pages it will also keep you from accessing the pages. I think the best solution would be just recreate the pages and add them back into your menu.

@slowcoach123: Use the full url in your menu items.

    Currently you use #testimonials etc.

Change the link to https://doyouneedawriter.com/#testimonials etc.

Thanks for the response, but the #contact etc was working fine previously as that is the way the theme is set up to allow for the page jumps.

Everything worked perfectly before, with the exact same set up as now, which is why I am confused.

    Perfect Ov3rfly that works, thanks.

It is strange that it suddenly needs to rest of the url, when it was happy with just the hashtag part previously.

But thank you both for your help, it is much appreciated.
