Hi… I could really do with some help here…. I am attempting to secure the backend of my site and certain front-end pages. I have installed WordPress HTTPS (SSL) and set it to force SSL Administration – so far so good.

If you visit my test site, you will see that the links from the menu tabs and in the widgets are all HTTP, except for the one to the Contact page, which is correct and as it should be. You can move between the non-secure pages. If you go to the Contact page, this becomes secure because I have set the Secure post option in the HTTPS pane. So far so good.

However, once on that secure page, all links elsewhere are now HTTPS and the other pages are loaded as secure when they should not be. The only way out is to edit a URL to remove the S from HTTPS, whereupon we are back in non-secure mode.

I have tried turning on the Force SSL exclusively option,. But then all front-end pages load as HTTP. The Contact page loads initially as HTTPS but immediately changes to HTTP. The Force SSL exclusively option seems to be overriding the HTTPS pane setting.

I have tried adding SSL Insecure Content Fixer but that does not help.

    What am I missing please?

I’m not able to reproduce this issue with a test site. Is there any way you could try to isolate the issue? Perhaps set up a new site on the same server and see if you get the same result? If so, I can log into it and check it out for myself and see what’s going on if it is really a bug in the code. Thanks!

    I have the same problem.

Try adding the contact page to your Secure URL Filters in the WordPress HTTPS settings while leaving Force SSL Exclusively disabled. This should allow both HTTP and HTTPS, but only enforce HTTPS on the contact page.

Mike… firstly – its great to see this plugin supported again. Thank you very much for stepping in.

By the time you got to try my test site, I had installed various other possible solutions and it was a bit of a mess in the relevant area. I have now had a clean out, restored things back and started again.

The original problem is no more, but I other have issue, which I will raise in a fresh topic.

@antipole I’m not necessarily supporting it, but I’ll do what I can on the forums. More often than not, I have to see issues for myself which involves me logging into the site to check it out. I simply do not have the time to do this for everyone that has an issue. I am asking that anybody who needs my direct assistance please email me and we can work out a price that works for both of us depending on the scale of your website and the timeline in which you need it working. Thanks!
