Hi,I’ve been monitoring here for a month now and I finally have an issue on the website I am webmaster for. I have two links which work fine on Firefox but not Chrome. My site is https://www.lingolconstruction.com. The link bar on the left has two links appearing incorrectly on Chrome and they are the two at the bottom of the list.
    Thanks

I’d also like to know how I would search all the previously posted threads to for the same info. I tried using the shortcut Ctrl+f but no threads have the work link in them when I do that.
    Thanks again,
    Shelby

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Thirteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

I’ll consider that in the next hour or two although I’m nervous as a noobie with only html, css and javascript classes under my belt. I’m trying to correct the url entries on my wp-admin/link-manager.php page to see if that’s what I incorrectly entered. So far so bad.
    Thanks Esmi,

I’m not the one who used a custom theme so I fear changing that theme and not being able to reproduce it.

There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting and is a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Do you want to locate and, hopefully, fix the problem on your site? If “yes”, then please help us to help you and carry out the changes that we suggest.

Your theme & plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.

Thanks for the database info since I just started deactivating plugins and the first one disappeared. Now I’ll save the names of the plugins I deactivate before clicking deactivate.
    Thanks

Thanks so much for getting me to try your suggestions. I now have changed to the 2013 theme and the two links in question are nowhere to be found. I’m not worried since I see that I can easily toggle from 2013 and back to the custom theme I normally use. So now shall I systematically start bringing back the plugins while still in 2013?
    Thanks

    The 2 missing links are:

I’m beginning to see a pattern now. The 2013 theme is showing comments whereas the custom theme left behind by the previous webmaster won’t show comments. Chrome has issues so I guess the previous guy didn’t test chrome. It seems as though the tweaking of themes has put me in an awkward position of trying to iron out many problems here at lingolconstruction.com. I’ll just keep plugging along and slowly learn from your forum until I start my next college class in three weeks (business graphics and multimedia.
    Thanks Esmi,
My personal website is swayzeconstruction.com but it’s not using wordpress yet.

Thanks Esmi, I’ll continue monitoring the forums and hopefully find what I need in this and certainly other areas of my focus as time passes.
