• Hello,

I have general HTTP admin experience but none with WP yet.

I just took over IT for a business that has an intranet WP site.

There is a page with links to files on the server, documents and spreadsheets.

After clicking on the but to go to the page there is a re-direct.
Once on the page none of the links work. They make the cursor change as though it knows it is a link, however nothing happens. This is consistent with all the links on this page, worked up to a week ago, now they do not.

The links, once moused over, look like this:

    //server/folder/folder/file.doc

The forward slashes look odd to me, however as I said, the links worked then shortly after the last IT guy left, no more working.

    Thank you for your help!

    Johnathon

  • Why can’t you link to these documents via http?

Good question esmi, not sure how.

In the WP control panel I can see all the pages listed and can edit them, however when I choose this page it shows the re-direct message in the edit portion but the actual page (with all the non working links) in the preview…

Which is when I decided to get expert help.

What’s the redirect message look like? Is it a plugin shortcode of some kind?

Let’s see if this works. The html below is in the edit portion of managing the page, in the preview section is the page that the redirect points to “links”.

    “<p><meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”1; url=https://links.cumuluseugene.com” /></p>
    <p> </p>
    <p> </p>
    <p> </p>
    <p> </p>
    <p> </p>
<center>If your page does not redirect to the Resources page right now, click here. </center>
    <p> </p>”

ps: Because this is an intranet you can not get to it outside the network.

Oh – that’s an ugly example of a redirect and I’m not surprised that it doesn’t work. I suggest that you get rid of all of the content on that page and install the Page Links To plugin to allow that WordPress page to redirect to https://links.cumuluseugene.com

Thanks esmi! I’ll check it out and post how it goes.

Oh, esmi, are you thinking that the links page is not built in WP but lives elsewhere?

    That would explain a lot.

    Johnathon

Yes – the redirect is pointing to a completely different site.
