• Hi,

When I updated from version 5.x to 7.7.2 all the links I had in the link library disappeared but the categories are still there.

Has anyone else had this happen and is their a fix?

    Cheers,
    Rob

Hi there. Sorry for the late response. The format of links data changed starting with version 6.0 of Link Library, which came out about 6 years ago. If your links did not automatically get converted to the new format, there is a way to ask the plugin to convert them manually.

    1. First go to the Global Options page of your Link Library installation. The address in your browser should look something like this: https://development-site.net/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=link_library_links&page=link-library-general-options where development-site.net would be the address of your web site
    2. Add the following at the end of this address: &show60upgradetools=1
    3. The address should look something like this: https://development-site.net/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=link_library_links&page=link-library-general-options&show60upgradetools=1
    4. Press enter to refresh the page and you will see some extra buttons appear at the top the General tab of the Global Options section
    5. Click on Re-import Links and that should convert your links to the new format

Please let me know if this works for you.

    Hi,

Thank you for the information. It did work to an extent but created doubles of some links and extra links that did not exist on the live site.

I went through manually to check the links were the same but afterwards on the last step where I was changing the id in the link library shortcodes to match the new category ids that were given to the categories after the update no category links are listed for whatever category I try.

For example one category was previously 103 [link-library categorylistoverride=”103″] before the update but after the update it changed to 218 [link-library categorylistoverride=”218″] but that no longer lists the links for the category?

Do you have an idea of what is happening and do you know a solution?

    Cheers,

    Rob

Sorry for the lack of response. The past month and a half has been really hectic for me. Are you still having this issue? Do links display if you just try to put in the [link-library] shortcode by itself on a page?
