• When I enter a link with a very long url I’m getting an unwanted line break. As you can see in this post, there’s one non-hyperlinked word, a hyperlinked word, and then a line break to the next word that is also not a link.

I’m just doing standard “a href” tagging I’ve done a million times before and I don’t see how I could do it differently. (The same problem would crop up on Blogger [I recently switched from Blogger to WordPress] once in a while, and I never got to the bottom of it with them.)

I’m sure this question must have come up before, but my searching on the forum and the codex didn’t turn anything up.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks!

  • Are you pressing Return after entering the link in the edit box ? When you do such links, it shoots out the side of the box but if you just keep typing it sorts itself out.

yea, what about my log on user name, d_may the underline appears to be much lower in this blog than I am used to seeing. It’s funny that I notice such things, meaning there are much more important things in the world today.

I wasn’t hitting return, but I was hand coding the link (directly typing in the a href=”…)instead of highlighting the word I wanted to make a hyperlink and using the “link” button above the edit text field. When I went back and used that button, everything straightened itself out.

Is it not a good idea to just type code in yourself? I’m a fast typer and often find this easier than letting the blog software write the code for me; and the end result looks exactly the same in the edit text field. But I guess if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

(Not sure what d_may’s most is supposed to mean…)

Are using the WYSIWYG editor. Since you know HTML so well, you can disable it. To do this, login to your account, go to the “Users” section and on the “Your Profile” tab clear the check box for the Personal Option “Use the visual rich editor when writing”
