linking to child page

  • How would I create a link to the first child of a parent page?

    Can I use wp_list_pages in some fashion?

    for example if I have the following structure

    gallery
    – gallery 1
    – gallery 2
    – gallery 3

    The link would be to ‘gallery 1’, but if gallery 1 is deleted the link would automatically link to gallery 2, as detailed below

    gallery
    – gallery 2
    – gallery 3

    Any help would be great
