    Good Evening,

We are building a travel website. The theme we are working with has WooCommerce embedded. One of the things that we want to do is to link products so that when one of them sells it locks out other products. For example one of the rooms on a retreat could hold one or two people. So if someone comes can books the room for two people it should no longer be available for one person to book. I understand that this violates all kinds of principles of an inventory engine but I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss a way to do this.

    Thanks,
    Jason

To clarify, is this how your “room” product is set up?

    – Awesome room
    — Variation: Awesome room for 1 person $x
    — Variation: Awesome room for 2 people $y

Is it a different price depending on how many people will be staying, or the same price?

Yes that correct. We have two variations as you described. The room cost more if two people stay because of the other costs of the tour. I’ve not found a way to block variation 1 or variation 2 so that if one or the other gets purchased it removes the stock of the other one.

I did find a plugin in my searching tonight that might work. https://docs.woothemes.com/document/composite-products/

The only other way I can think of is using Product Add-Ons (https://docs.woothemes.com/document/product-add-ons/). You could make the rooms simple products instead of variable ones, and have “number of guests” as a product level add-on to be selected (with a price assigned to each guest number option).
