linking gallery thumbnails to posts

Hi there.
I’m building a new portfolio with WordPress. I have an idea of what i want:
A gallery with thumbnails which links back to their relative posts, and inside the post is a little description and a slide-show with 2-3 images representing the project.
I have the slideshow, now i just need the gallery. I’ve been using Nextgen-gallery for a long time, and if it can do anything like this, I’d be glad to know how. Nextgen-gallery is a awesome gallery plugin, but as mentioned, i need it to make the thumbnails link back to the post, and i havent found a feature like it in nexgen..
Anybody knows of a scrip or code or, much preferred, a plug-in that would do the trick? Most, most preferred a way to do it with Nextgen-Gallery?
