Linking Children and Non-Linking Parents?

How can I list “pages” on the nav bar that don’t actually link to anything, but rather trigger drop-down menus of children pages that do? I’ve tried 3 plugins — Page Links To, Page Lists Plus, and PixoPoint Menu — none of which is working….
