Linking actual permissions to Custom Capabilties

Hello,

I have a set of users I’d like to give specific permissions to. The permission I’m trying to grant to grant lies under the “manage_options” permission. Then all sorts of things are turned on under “settings.” However – I don’t want the role to be able to access everything under “settings.”

Specifically, I’m using the People Lists plugin. I want to have a “Manager” role be able to edit the settings for that plugin only – not all of the other settings that come on when you turn on “manage_options” in the role permissions.

I have some coding experience – can someone please help me out and let me know how I can create a Custom Capability that allows only this plugin to be updated? I’ve created a custom capability called “edit_people_lists” – but how do I link that custom capability to be able to make the options changes?
