    Hello,

I updated the plugin today to version 5.9.0 and after the update all the text containing a link disappeared. It is only possible to see the text when highlighting with the mouse. And that only happens on my event pages. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I did a rollback to version 5.8.2 and all became normal again! The problem is on version 5.9.0. I wont update it again until I figure out what is going on.

    Hey there @thaisf

    Thank you for reaching out.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of what that looked like?
Also, when you say disappear, do you mean that the text is removed or that it’s showing in a different unreadable color (e.g.: white)?

The reason I am asking is that we have expanded the scope of our WordPress customizer options with this release. So it might just be a matter of tweaking a setting.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

    Hey Geoff,

    Thanks for your fast reply!

No, the text is not removed, it just shows when I highlight it with the mouse. It became unreadable but it’s there.

I uploaded the image to my website, you could check it on https://isarj.org.br/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/ps25.08.2021.png

On the left side note that there are blank spaces under the bold texts. These texts are linked and on the right side of the image it appears when I highlight it with the mouse.

    Thanks again!

    Hi all,

The same issue is popping up for us, too. We tried using button blocks and depending on whether the button is fill or outline, it happens. If outline, it works as expected, but a fill button doesn’t reverse out the text color, thus making it the same as the filled background color. For what it’s worth, the text IS there, but can’t be seen until highlighted. In looking at the code, it says the color style isn’t defined (color:var(–tec-color-link-accent);)

    Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for looking into this, as we are rolling back to 5.8.2 until we can figure out a way to solve it.

    Hello,

Has anyone tried the recently released version 5.9.1?

    Is this issue still there?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

I am sorry that you both are still having issues with this, it seems likely that this could be some kind of conflict with your theme or another plugin, so please go ahead and test for conflicts: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/ You can either use the Health Check plugin mentioned in that guide, or you can set up a staging environment and copy your site to it to test.

I have a feeling this might be because of your theme, but it would be best to test everything.

    Please let us know!

    Hi there @tdorn,

This is indeed a conflict with my theme, but it’s because we have Gutenberg button block colors set through the theme. The accent color for TEC set in the customizer overrides this button text color for an Events Calendar button block (however, regular posts’ buttons work as expected, with the theme’s colors as a default if nothing is set via the button block within the editor). It would be super helpful if, in the next iteration of TEC, that the accent color (used for links and whatnot) does not also affect the wp-button block out of the box, especially since Gutenberg allows for customization of colors on blocks. Let me know if that makes sense or if you need me to clarify.

    Thanks so much!
    Colleen

    Hi @clcreative

Thanks for the update. Your recommendation is clear and makes sense.

The issue you experienced may be unique to your theme, but nonetheless I’ll pass along your feedback to the development team.

    Best regards,

    Marho

    Hi @matumu,

Also, if it helps, I haven’t implemented button colors through JSON for the theme, only because I don’t think it’s supported yet, but that would be the end goal. Ultimately the “hierarchy” of colors for button blocks would be something like:

    1. editor (user chooses through the block UI settings)
    2. theme css or json for WP button block
    3. TEC plugin (fallback to the accent color set in TEC customizer settings)
    4. default WP Gutenberg block colors/settings

In my mind, that would be ideal, but I’ll defer to the dev team who I’m sure is smarter than I am!

    Thanks again,
    Colleen

@clcreative Are you still experiencing issues with this?

If so, could you provide a link to a page on your site that was being affected by this, so I can see which CSS rules were conflicting?

    Thanks,
    Sky

@skyshab I think everything has been fixed up, but I will keep my eyes opens!

    Thanks,
    Colleen

OK, thanks for letting us know.

    Best,
    Sky
