My hosting does not allow ffmpeg and I bought my website to host videos, I am trying to find a plugin that will let me upload my videos, because when i upload my videos using wordpress it is just a link. How do I make it an actual video and not a link. I am using the right video file type. Please Help.

  • This depends the file extension…
I don’t know ffmpeg, I presume file extension is .mpg or .mpeg ?

Try Video Embed & Thumbnail Generator

I am not trying to embed the video I am trying to upload it, are they the same thing?

I am trying to upload from my computer files that are avi, mpeg, and others.

Nope. To play an ffmpeg video, you need to have FFMPEG installed on your server. You might be better off converting your videos to another format (such as mp4) before trying to upload them.

What about avi files and such?

because when i upload my videos using wordpress it is just a link. How do I make it an actual video and not a link.

    …OK, that’s why I misunderstood your problem.

    Me too I use .mp4

Okay so your saying avi does not work, because it is only a link for me, but mp4 shoudl work?

    should*

In which case are you ?
    – You display only a link (link mean it’s only text that point to a video file).
    – You display embed player (allows you to play video files like mp4, mov, avi…)

No – you’ll still need a player plugin but using mp4 will give you a better quality of video at a far smaller file size. You should also find that your hosts won’t have a problem with .mp4 files.

They don’t have a problem with the file types they just said they cannot use FFMPEG, any video uploading plugins you suggest? It turns it into a link that I click and takes me to the file on my laptop. Is embeding the same as uploading?

Is embeding the same as uploading?

No, it’s not the same. You embed the file (display a video player to play your video) after uploaded it on your server.

Riversatile, have any good embedding plugins besides the one previously stated, because that one requires FFMPEG.

I’m not sure to understand your sentence… (I’m French, sorry)

This requires to install FFMPEG on your web server first.
