I’m trying the plugin and I’ve noticed that after I’ve clicked the link provided in the mail it starts to download the file… and if I go to the blue arrow in firefox and go to “Copy Download link” it copies the original URL to the file hosted on the server… the url where everybody can download the file e.g. example.com/myfile/file.pdf

p.s. that only happens if you paste an external link. If you upload the file from wordpress media it shows the temporary crypted uri provided in the mail.

Have you uploaded your files via the Edit Download page?

When you upload files there, they get added to a special directory that is protected against direct access.

if the file is uploaded elsewhere and you paste the link it does that thing… if you upload the file via the wordpress media it doesn’t show the direct link. so I guess I’m gonna upload the file via wordpress instead ftp.

It’s not possible for us to fully restrict external files since they don’t reside on the same server, so yes, uploading through WordPress is the best option.
