Is it possible to link a WordPress product to an existing Ebay listing? I think so, since when I click on the magnifier icon on product list I get the message: “If your products already exist on eBay, you can just search for matching products by clicking the magnifier icon on the right and link your WooCommerce products to existing eBay products”

The problem is that I cannot find any search field.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey @cas2studio

    Thanks for contacting support.

I am not sure what you mean by “since when I click on the magnifier icon on product list I get the message: “If your products already exist on eBay, you can just search for matching products by clicking the magnifier icon on the right and link your WooCommerce products to existing eBay products”” I don’t see that at all on my end and am not aware of matching existing listings in this way.

The only way to match existing eBay listings to Woocommerce products requires an add on plugin: importer add on plugin $99.

With that plugin you can enable the “Match Existing SKUs” setting on the advanced options page of the importer plugin. That will have the importer simply connect eBay listings to WC products if the SKUs match. If an SKU on eBay does not match an SKU in WC, the eBay listing will be added to WP-Lister and created as a WC product.

But note, this only works with simple listings. For variable listings you would then have to set the “Import mode” to “Only new items” after importing the first time with the “Match existing SKUs” setting, in order to pull in the variable listings as well. But the variable listings from eBay that would be imported on the second import would be created as new products in WC. So you then would need to delete the existing variable listings in WC before importing the variable listings in the second import.

    Kind regards,

Ok, thank you, now it’s all clear. The message above appeared in a window when I tried to add a product for the first time (screenshot here:

You’re welcome, but could you help me understand what exactly is cleared up now? Were you actually trying to import products from ebay (as John’s answer suggested), or where you just looking for that magnification glass icon and/or the search field, in order to link you WooCommerce products to existing ebay items?

If the text in that screenshot seem misleading to you, then I’d love to hear any kind of alteration that would make it easier to understand. For the record, this is the text I’m talking about:

You need to create a listing profile and assign a suitable feed template before you can start listing new products on eBay.

If your products already exist on eBay, you can just search for matching products by clicking the magnifier icon on the right and link your WooCommerce products to existing eBay products.

Thanks in advance for any input and suggestions.

    kind regards,
    Matt

I wanted to link existing WooCommerce products to existing eBay items, but your colleague said that this is not possible, and the only way to do something similar is to import all eBay items using your plugin.

If the text in that screenshot seem misleading to you, then I’d love to hear any kind of alteration that would make it easier to understand.

The text says that it’s actually possible to link WooCommerce existing products: “you can just search for matching products by clicking the magnifier icon on the right and link your WooCommerce products to existing eBay products”. If this is not really possible (no search field, no way to link) maybe the sentence should be changed.

You are absolutely correct, this text (second paragraph) is misleading and confusing and shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Apparently it originated from the Amazon version, where it does actually make sense, but it should not be displayed when there is no profile set up yet.

This will be fixed in version 2.8.3 which should be released later today.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

    kind regards,
    Matt
