Link to download PDF within email

    Hi there!

    I was wondering if it will be possible to add a link within the email receipt. For example, I’m planning to create a custom email receipt template like this example. So I would like the text at the bottom to work with this plugin – “Need a printable copy for your records? You can download a PDF version“.

    I found this guide. Could I use the same link structure within the “customer completed order” email template in WooCommerce?

    Currently the PDF invoice is not generated automatically (it is not attached to the email). Will this be a problem? Or is it possible to generate the PDF when the user clicks the link in the email?

    …I’m not sure why “You can download a PDF version“ links to the codex!

    Hi Phil,
    This is currently not possible due to security restrictions of accessing the PDF directly via a URL (the method you linked to requires the user to be logged in but doesn’t provide a login screen if he/she tries to access it without being logged in).
    In theory you could definitely do this if you generate a unique access key for each invoice and include that an the URL, but at the moment this would require custom coding.

    I’m sorry I don’t have a ready made solution for this!

    Hi @pomegranate, no problem! Thank you for the quick reply.

    It would be great if this will be possible in future. I would prefer to add a link to access the PDF rather than attach it to the emails.

    For now, I may be able to create a workaround with the current filters/actions available. I will have a play ??
