• I am trying to create a link at the top of a page, to a heading anchored later down the page to aid readers navigation, but am unable to get the links to work.

I’m using HTML, but developing the page on my XAMPP local host, with the subjects at the top of the page looking like:-

This week: Turning a a> href=#Paper pond” into reality; Plants for winter interest; etc…

    Down the page I have

    A a> name=”Paper Pond”

Followed by the text, but the link does not work.

Please could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for reading… I’ve tried to show the tags, but because this page uses HTML I’ve removed the leading “<” characters because the page didn’t show them but this page is removing the /a end commands so it doesn’t show the actual HTMLcode I am using!

  • Hello,

I always refer to this tutorial when configuring anchor links within a page:
    https://www.echoecho.com/htmllinks08.htm

Everytime I try to do it without the guide I miss a step. This should get you on the right track though.

Let me know if you’re able to get it setup with the aid of that guide.
