I’m a new WordPress blogger and I need some advice… I’ve got at least six “Recent Comments” on my Dashboard that appear to be link requests (the entries look like HTML). Do I just approve them, or do I have to cut and paste them someplace? I’m flattered these people want to link to my site, but I don’t know what to do with their requests!

  • More than likely they are spammers utilizing mass commenting programs and scripts. I would recommend you read each comment and see if it pertains to the post they left the comment on.

It is up to you as to whether or not you would like to approve them though.

Thanks for the reply! There’s nothing to read. It’s two lines of garbled letters with a little http or www sprinkled around! I deleted all six of them. If I can’t read what it says, I don’t want it in my blog!

I’d suggest setting up Akismet as well, as it should catch (and stop) most of these.
