• WordPress provides an excellent system for online journals and I see it being used all over the web.

I would very much like to see WordPress help to promote Web Standards by making use of the Link Rel Tags for Next Previous and First and Last. This is information included on most pages anyway so providing it in the LINK REL tags helps accessibility and allows users with smater browsers to have these extra controls in their own language (usually through an extra toolbar).

This web standard is suffering from a chicken and egg problem. Very few sites support it and so very few web browsers are wiling to support it although Opera and Mozilla Seamonkey are exceptional. WordPress is so successful that if you were to support this standard it would make a massive difference.

So this is a request for WordPress to make sure the necessary Link Rel Next and Previous tags are included in the defaults (and Ideally other tags like Top, Up, First and Last if you can think of appropriate ways to use them).
Help promote web standards, help improve accessibility and make improve the web browsing experience for everyone.

    Thanks in advance.

(I looked for some form of a bug tracer to file a more specific request but didn’t see one)
