    Hi,

I guess I have found a small glitch, which crept in from somewhere but unfortunately I am not able to track it back anymore, since I only found it by today.

The linking from a single entry to the full page of this entry is working different on posts and pages. Hard to describe, maybe examples do a better job here.

Clicking on a link in a post gets me to the right location, a new single page with all extra infos. Example here:
    https://www.tsg-koeppern.de/2016/07/31/drums-alive-kidsneuer-kurs/

Clicking on a link on a page messes up something. Example here:
    https://www.tsg-koeppern.de/sportangebot/kurs/gummitwist-jump-dance/
There, everything is somehow “pushed” into the page.

I have the same effect on a development page, which is kind of untouched or unmodified since a while, excluding plugin updates, which are tested there.

Do you have any idea, how to resolve this?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

This does not seem to to be an issue in Connections… did you by change post this to the wrong support forum???

    Hi shazahm1,

    Thanks for your response!

Connections (among using it as a directory of our “staff”) is used to generate the ID card on both pages (and several others also). This is done via a shortcode (one per page).

Clicking on the links on these “ID Cards” leads to the messed up output.

I hope that clarifies things a bit more…

    e:
Link from example #1 goes to https://www.tsg-koeppern.de/verzeichnis/namen/beate-lenhart-3/ – correct
Link from example #2 goes to https://www.tsg-koeppern.de/sportangebot/kurs/gummitwist-jump-dance/namen/beate-lenhart-3/ – wrong

No, this seems correct. This allows one to put multiple directories on the same site on different pages. What you need to do in your useage is to add the home_id shortcode option to the pages/posts where you are just inserting the “card” so the links point to your “primary” directory home page.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks, that was most helpful!

I fixed it now with the force_home shortcode option – which I only found while looking for the home_id documentation you pointed me to. Sorry, I should go back and rtfm.

But there must be still somewhere a change under the hood, as I am still pretty convinced, that several weeks ago everything was fine without this option – and while applying the fix, I found out, that there are pages where everything is working as expected and others, where I need to use force_home. *scratches head

Thanks for your time and help and this great plugin of course!

Hmmm… I’ve not made any core permalink logic changes is quite a long time. Using the force_home shortcode option will definitely do the trick too. The primary difference between the two is home_id will set the permalink to the page ID set whereas the force_home option will set the base permalink to the page set of the Directory home page on the Settings admin page.

It is good to hear you’ve got this resolved!
