This is a fairly advanced application, requiring developer skills. If you don’t have those kind of skills, I would suggest looking at one of several “store locator” type plugins that can use mapping to find listings.

Maybe I misunderstood how you want to use Google maps, but if you only want to define a users location from Google Maps you just use the URL given by Google and either you or the user add it in PdB manually. If you ensure that you don’t use the shortened URL version, the URL contain latitude/longitude. It must be fairly simple to search for the coordinates in the string.

Thanks, yes it is possible to set up a custom template so that the address information in a record is used to create a location map, but what is very difficult is to do any kind of geographic search or “find nearby” kind of thing.

But there are several WP plugins that do this.
