Link doesn't show properly

Only the link will be displayed if you use regular post to add your link to activity, see screenshot https://screencast.com/t/7FIkJ0Go98q.

The changes would have to be made on the site/pages that you link to.

Plugin has several rules how to check what will be used for the link description for example, here they are:

1) first it checks for og:description meta
2) after that it searches for meta description
3) if none of the above is available it is using first paragraph
4) if that is also not available it displays just title.

I use the “add link” form of the plugin in my tests, never the regular post ??

The problem is that i’ve tryed really many sites (google.com and some magazine’s site), and all of that, in facebook, have the regular preview of the content.
So I think the problem isn’t in meta data of the site ^^

Maybe there some privacy’s setting I have to turn off? ^^ I’ve already try to turn off CloudFlare (my wordpress installation is hosted on altervista, a free host service) and change every possible setting, but without luck ^^’

I apologize for all my questions, I hope we can find a solution. I love this plugin! ??

You’re actually right, I’ve tested the link you used in your activity stream and it displays properly on my sandbox site, https://screencast.com/t/EfzQpfYO2Wwh.

Can you please test for possible plugin/theme conflicts by using default WordPress theme like Twenty Fifteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.

I’ve tryed to turn off all other plugins and activate a default wp theme (i’ve tryed twenty fifteen, fourteen and twelve, just to be sure XD) but nothing is changed!

There is any other test I can try?

I’ve double checked the link just to be sure and it has all the OpenGraph headers that we need so that is definitely good.

Since disabling all plugins and using default WP theme didn’t help my best guess is that this is related to your hosting. The possible reason for that is PHP not being allowed to read remote URLs.

You’ll have to contact your hosting provider

Today i’ve contacted my provider and after some tentative i’ve managed to resolve my problem! ??

In altervista you have to authenticate with a sms to unlock allow_url_fopen in php.ini
