• 1) When I’m typing text and I press Enter, I get two lines instead of one. Can’t find how to specify ‘no spacing.’

    2) I’m putting links in my text but when I publish the page, the links are not clickable.

Can anyone help with either – thanks!

  • Using Shift+Enter should get a single line.

As to the links, are you doing this?

Type the text you want to make into a link
    Highlight that text
Paste or type the URL in the pop-up for where you are linking to
    Click Add Link

If that does not work, can you post a link to an example of a misbehaving link?

    Thanks dude!

The link is a link to another page on the site such as:
    https://sandandseahomes.com/properties-for-sale/lot-1170-m2-l119/
so I’m obviously entering plain text.

“Paste or type the URL in the pop-up for where you are linking to
    Click Add Link”
I don’t see a pop up when I’ve highlighted the text. Where is it supposed to appear?

Shift/Enter not working, neither is pasting from Word or Notepad. The text looks fine until I View Page.

Oh geez, sorry I missed a step in there – duh – after you highlight the text, click on the Links icon in the toolbar – that brings up the pop-up.

OK, thanks – in case you missed my edit:

Shift/Enter not working, neither is pasting from Word or Notepad.

The text looks fine, spacing as I want it – until I View Page.

Links working fine now – thanks for that!

Don’t copy from Word ever – it adds all kinds of garbage formatting.

So, in the visual editor, try creating a new post – type the text and when you want to make a new line, use hold down shift and press return/enter. Is that what you’re doing?

Also avoid switching between text and visual editors before you’ve saved – as that’s known to be problematic.

    >Don’t copy from Word ever – it adds all kinds of garbage formatting.
Agreed, I gave that up instantly.

    >hold down shift and press return/enter. Is that what you’re doing?
Yes, I’m doing that and as you say, it puts the cursor on the very next line – until I View Post. The published post separates the lines.

Now that I have the links working, I may not need this but if you can figure it out, please let me know.
